Viola E. Ovens Bradenton, FL, Himrod: Viola E. Ovens, age 92, of Bradenton, FL formerly of Himrod died Saturday April 18, 2015 at Surrey Place, in Bradenton, FL. Friends may call from 11:00 am- 12:00 noon Saturday April 25 at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee; where a funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon with Lay Pastor Lew Ann Giles officiating. Box 12, Penn Yan, N.Y. 14527. Viola was born August 20, 1922 in Himrod, the daughter of the late Herbert and Martha Kress Brown. On June 11, 1942 in Himrod, she married the late John W. Ovens, who passed away on Sept. 1, 2003. Mrs. Ovens was a member of Himrod Baptist Church. The animal world lost a true friend; as she cared and fed all strays that showed up at her door, at one point loving 25 cats. She is survived by a daughter Joan V. (Paul) Ambrose also of Bradenton, FL; a son Michael L. (Sandy) Ovens Sr. of Palmetto, FL; a sister-in-law Linda (Kenny) Lane of Spring Hills, FL; 4 grandsons John (Stacie) Ambrose, James (Dawn) Ambrose, Michael Ovens Jr., and Justin Ovens; 6 great grandchildren, Trevor, Wyatt, & Evan Ambrose, Ryan Snow, Phoebe, & Ruth Ambrose; several nieces and nephews; and her dear friends Loretta & Edward Howell of Himrod, NY.
