Dundee: Susan A. Benedict Flood, age 77, of Dundee, NY passed away on Monday August 3, 2026.

Honoring her wishes there are no calling hours. Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Her Life starting at 2:00 p.m. Saturday Aug. 29, 2026 at 4194 Old State Rte. 14, Dundee, NY.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial contribution in her memory should consider any SPCA Chapter, or the Dundee Fire Company or Emergency Squad, 12 Union St. Dundee, NY 14837.

Susan, a lifelong resident of Dundee; was born September 1, 1948. She was the oldest of four daughters born to the late William and Marilyn (Inscho) Benedict. She graduated from Dundee Central School and was a proud member of the DCS class of 1966. She attended Corning Community College. She was the owner of The Dundee Observer for several years working with her friend and fellow “snoop sister” Susan Watkins. She later became a personal caregiver opening a family care home. Susan and her late husband Charles McCann returned to the Observer for a period and also owned and operated the Good as New Shop in Dundee. “Chuck” predeceased her in 2005. She later married life- long friend John F. Flood on May 25, 2017 in Dundee, NY. After retiring in 2018, Susan enjoyed spending time with her husband, connecting with extended family and working in her flower gardens, she was passionate about collecting and organizing her photographs and stories. She loved telling the history of her family and her town. She had great fun playing cards with her sisters and going to yard sales finding vintage treasures with her sister Sheryl. Susan was always looking forward to planning her next class reunion and enjoyed time spent with her classmates.

She is loved and will be missed by her husband of nine wonderful years John F. Flood at home; a daughter Lynn Renee Foy of Albany, NY; sons Jeffery J. (Amy) Tomion of Rock Stream, and Doug Thomas also of Dundee, NY; 9 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; several step children & grandchildren; her sister Sheryl Benedict of Dundee; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, good friends and her beloved dogs Jake and Sophie..

Besides her parents, Susan was predeceased by sisters Diane M. Benedict Simonsen in 2017, and Judith G. Benedict Voisey in 2026.
