Shirley Beatrice Areford-Smith Hammondsport/Wayne/Dundee: Shirley Beatrice Areford-Smith, age 87, of the town of Wayne, NY passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home with her family at her side on Sunday May 9, 2021. Friends and family are invited to her memorial service at 1:00 p.m. Friday May 21 at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee, NY with Lay Pastor Lew Ann Giles officiating. Shirley was born June 14, 1933 in Penn Yan, NY, the daughter of the late Bert and Ethel (Smith) Savage. She graduated from Dundee Central School in 1951. On Jan. 11, 2001 in Corning, NY she married William C. Smith. She was employed for 18 years by the U.S. Postal Service, having worked in Dundee, and retiring as Post Master of the Lakemont Post Office. She is dearly loved and will be forever missed by her husband William C. Smith; daughter Nicole A. Fazio and her son Lucas J. Ferren; a daughter she raised as her own Jennifer Noemi Casillas Conteron; a brother Ronald B. Savage and his son Blair K. (Jenny) Savage and their children Allison N. & Kevin M. Savage; a sister Norma J. (Ronald P.) Weller and her son Shawn D. (Gay R.) Applebee and their daughter Caroline S. Applebee; and a brother Norris L. Savage; along with countless friends.
