Ruth P. Knapton Himrod: Ruth P. Knapton, age 86, of Himrod, NY died Saturday July 14, 2012 at Hospeace House, in Naples, NY. Friends are invited to call from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (July 18) at the Barrington Community Church. Old Bath Rd. Barrington, NY; where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Gerald Vanaman officiating. Burial will follow in Grove Mount Cemetery, Himrod. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Barrington Community Church, P.O. Box 73, Dundee, NY 14837; or to Hospeace House, P.O. Box 343, Naples, NY 14512 Ruth was born July 18, 1925 in Penn Yan, NY the daughter of the late William and Emma Bronson Pinneo. She graduated from Penn Yan Academy in 1945. On Nov. 3, 1945 in the Penn Yan Methodist Church she married the late Leland F. Knapton, who passed away on Nov 1 2007. A life long area resident, Ruth dedicated her life to her family, and her Barrington Community Church where she taught Sunday School for many, many years. She enjoyed making crafts, which she sold at Knapton's Country Shed, along with flowers she grew with her "Green Thumb". A devoted mother and grandmother; she is loved and will be dearly missed by two sons Richard (Bill Felton) Knapton of Rochester, Jack (Pam) Knapton of Kansas City, MO, 4 daughters Patricia (Steve Ostrander) Pellett of Himrod, Sally (Gary) Griffin of Penn Yan, Gail (David) Egburtson, and Nancy Harrison both of Himrod; 14 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews Besides her husband she was pre-deceased by a son Bruce Knapton; a grandson Jerry Bennett; a great granddaughter Alexis Knapton; a daughter Debra Bennett; and 2 great great grandchildren Lexi Ann and Dakota Wayne Mitchell.
