Dundee: Phyllis L. Thompson, age 77, of Dundee, NY passed away on Mothers Day, with her family by her side, Sunday May 10, 2026 at Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility, in Montour Falls, NY.

Calling hours will be from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Friday May 15, at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee; where her funeral service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 1:00 pm with Pastor Lawrence Semans officiating. Burial will follow in Tyrone Union Cemetery, Tyrone, NY, with a Repast following at the Tyrone Fire Dept. Route 226, Tyrone, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tyrone Volunteer Fire Dept., P.O. Box 69, Tyrone, NY 14887.

Phyllis (also known by many as BettyJune) was born October 17, 1948 in Penn Yan, NY, the daughter of the late Lewis A. and Elsie E. (Mortenson) Briggs. She graduated from Dundee Central School in the class of 1967. On Apr. 27, 1968 in the Dundee Baptist Church she married Bruce E. Thompson. A loving wife and mother from that day forward, she worked for 11 years at The Falls Home, in Montour Falls, NY as a resident coordinator. She was also a former employee of the Water Street Pharmacy, and Dollar General, she retired fully in 2008. Mrs. Thompson was a devoted member of the Tyrone Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Aux., and had been a member of numerous bowling leagues over the years. She served on the election board for many terms, enjoyed reading, cooking, crochet, and puzzles.

She is loved and will be dearly missed by her husband of just over 58 years, Bruce E. Thompson at home; 2 sons John S. (Rebecca) Thompson of Dundee, and Jeffery E. (Lindsay) Thompson of Trenton, OH; her best friend and daughter Reita D. (Paul) Roberts of Penn Yan; 10 grandchildren, Dustyn, Tony, Corrina, P.J.(Meaghan), Amanda (Clair), Josh (Karlene), Jordan, Ashton, Katelyn, Lola; 9 great grandchildren; a brother Ronald N. (Cindy) Briggs of Pulteney, NY, 5 sisters Lois Kay Hotaling of Lakeland, FL, Laurie A. (John) Sworts, and Dawn M. Bacher both of Dundee, and Stacy E. (John) Wormuth of Penn Yan, and Kim (Kevin) Fultz of Dundee; numerous nieces, nephews, and very special in-laws.

Besides her parents, she was pre-deceased by a stillborn son Richard Lee Thompson in 1970; and a brother Thomas H. Briggs in 2010.
