Norman Eugene ''Gene'' McLoud
Penn Yan: Norman Eugene ''Gene'' McLoud, age 89, of Penn Yan, NY passed away peacefully on Tuesday September 8, 2026 in the comfort of his recliner..
Norman was born June 14, 1937 in the town of Jerusalem, NY, a son of the late Harry and Sarah (Northrup) McLoud. He graduated early from the school of hard knocks. Not relishing the name given, he preferred the shorten version of his middle name and soon everyone knew him as ‘Gene’. On Aug. 15, 1959 in Penn Yan, he married the former Barbara Jean Moran. They celebrated their 61 wedding anniversary just three weeks before her death on Sept. 12, 2020. Gene worked in his earlier years as a handyman, and gardener for several prominent families in the Penn Yan area, enjoying yard maintenance, flower beds and landscaping. He eventually took a year round fulltime position as a machine operator with Garlock Sealing Tech., in Palmyra, NY; retiring after 35 years in 2002. Mr. McLoud wasn’t a joiner, but he loved to work and provide for his wife and family; occasionally he would try his luck at scratch off tickets, which in turn just kept him working.
He is loved dearly and will be forever missed by 3 sons, John R. McLoud of Hammondsport, Randy A. McLoud of Waterloo, and Keith E. McLoud of Rock Stream; 5 grandchildren Brooke L. (Darin) Gilbert, Amber N. McLoud, Amanda K. (Cameron) Howell, Mackenzie McLoud, and Konnor McLoud; 7 great grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.
Besides his parents and his wife, he was predeceased by all of his siblings, 2 brothers, and 4 sisters, and several in laws.
Honoring his wishes, there are no calling hours or public service. He will be buried privately alongside his wife in Second Milo Cemetery, in the town of Milo.
