Neal Slingerland

Dundee, NY/Zephyrhills, FL: Neal Slingerland, 81, of Zephyrhills, Florida (formerly Dundee, NY) passed away on September 9, 2026. Neal was born in June of 1945 to Robert S. and Louise K. Slingerland. He graduated from Dundee Central School in 1963.

Neal was later employed by DCS as a custodian. For 30 years, Neal was a valued member of the DCS custodial staff and was very proud of his contribution.

Neal and his family were members of the Starkey United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir, helped with church activities and was treasurer for a time.

Upon his retirement in 2000, Neal moved to Zephyrhills, Florida. He was active in the UMC there. He enjoyed shuffleboard, bingo and driving his golf cart around the park. In later years, he became an avid reader. Neal made many friends throughout his life who enjoyed his company and spoke very highly of him.

Neal is survived by his brother, Robert Slingerland, Jr. (Lucy), sisters Carol Jensen (Bill) and Barbara Slingerland as well as nieces Annalee Appledorn (Dan), Amy Slingerland, Emily Brink (Scott), Sally Rudolph (Blake), a grandnephew Miles Appledorn; and a grandniece Brynn Appledorn.
