Mathew ''Matt'' Perry Jr.

Dundee: Mathew ''Matt'' Perry Jr., age 77, of Dundee, NY died Wednesday December 26, 2018 at Rochester General Hospital, in Rochester, N.Y.

Friends are invited to call from 2 -5 pm Sunday (Dec. 30) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee; where a Fireman Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. A Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Monday (Dec. 31) at the Dundee United Methodist Church, 35 Water Street, Dundee with Rev. Marilyn Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Dundee.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Dundee Fire Company, 12 Union St., or to the Dundee United Methodist Church, 35 Water Street, Dundee, NY 14837.

Mathew was born June 7, 1941 in the Town of Tyrone, NY, the son of the late Mathew and Bessie Scott Perry Sr. He graduated from Dundee Central School in 1959. On May 26, 1984 in the Dundee United Methodist Church he married the former Betty J. McGovern.

"Matt" was the Grocery Manager employed by Giles Store Inc., for 47 years, retiring in 2006. He was an active member of Dundee United Methodist Church, having been a trustee and an usher. He was a former Chief and Life Member of the Dundee Fire Department; former member of the Emergency Squad, and a member of the Dundee Fire Dept. Benevolent Assoc., and in his younger years belonged to the former Seneca Lake Sportsman's Assoc., as well as various Bowling League Teams. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball, OTB & Horses, but especially following his grand children's sporting endeavors.

He is loved and will be dearly missed by his wife of 34 years, "Betts" J. Perry at home, 3 sons, Steven D. (Tammy) Perry of Barrington, NY, Ronald A. Perry of Dundee, Douglas R. (Lori Paczewski) Perry of Schwenksville, PA, 3 step children Tammy L. (James) Via of Nottingham, MD, Richard J. (Lynn) Welsh and Jeffrey R. Welsh both of Gorham, NY; 15 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 2 sisters Mary Stanley of Downey, CA, Julia (Bill) Fultz of Dundee; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by 3 brothers, Clifford, David, and John Perry, and 3 sisters Dorothy House, Joyce Epperson, and Barb Saucier.
