Marsha Jean Stults Shults

Dundee: Marsha Jean Stults Shults, age 68, of Lakemont passed away peacefully Friday, June 23, 2017 early dawn overlooking her beloved Seneca Lake in the comfort of her sons' home surrounded by her loving family. In light of her extended illness, the entire family would like to recognize the tender loving care of Marsha Jean by her two devoted and loving sons, Peter James and Anthony "Tony" John Shults.

Friends and family are invited to calling hours from 5-8 pm on Thursday June 29, 2017, at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water St., Dundee. A celebration of her life at the Lakemont Church, Lakemont, N.Y. will be announced for August 2017.

The family respectfully suggests memorial contributions be made to the Dundee Children Center, 62 Main St., Dundee, N.Y. 14837, the Lakemont Church, PO Box 19, Lakemont, N.Y. 14857 or Ontario-Yates County Hospice Assoc., 756 Pre-Emption Road, Geneva, N.Y. 14456.

Marsha, born on September 5, 1948 spent her childhood gardening and chasing fire flies on the Stults family 33 acre farm in Cranbury, N.J. near Princeton. She was the first daughter of the late Emma Chamberlin Forman and William Grover Stults who were married 47 years.

In the summer of 1968 Marsha traveled to Vichy, France to study French. In June 1970 Marsha graduated with honors with her teaching degree from Glassboro State Teachers College in Glassboro, N.J., and married William James Shults, of Lakemont, N.Y. Her first job was teaching third grade in Woodbridge, V.A. for one year. In 1975 Marsha earned her Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Elmira College in Elmira, N.Y. She served on the Board of Directors of the Dundee Children Center from 1983 to present. Marsha dedicated the majority of her long, distinguished career as an educator of 38 years at Dundee Central School teaching fourth, third, and second graders beginning in September 1971 until her retirement in June 2008. Not one to be idle at home nor far from her school children, she continued to teach as a substitute teacher for another eight years.

In retirement Marsha continued to enjoy her many passions: She especially cherished spending loving time with her boys, cooking great foods and jams for her family, (some were lucky enough to receive a prized jar of homemade jam during the holidays), writing down favorite recipes which she shared with family and friends, swimming in her pool, and gardening on her farm in Lakemont. Summers allowed trips to her parents' Jersey shore beach house on Long Beach Island, Harvey Cedars, N.J.

Marsha was a devoted wife, mother, teacher, and sister. She is deeply loved and appreciated for her kindness as conversations with her always left you feeling positive and loved. She will be dearly missed by her two sons, Peter James Shults, and Anthony "Tony" John Shults; sister Harriet "Holly" Rebecca Stults and nephew, Dillon Stults–Slayden of Santa Fe N.M.; brother, Grover Edward (Pam) Stults, niece Natalie Rebecca Stults of New Hope, P.A. and numerous nieces and cousins.
