Shortsville/Dundee: Mark L. Spencer, born on February 7, 1954, to Frederick L. Spencer and Marjorie H. Spencer in Penn Yan, New York, passed away unexpectedly at home on October 10, 2026.

He is survived by his daughter Honora (Justin) Miller, son Lucas (Lauren Anderson) Spencer, beloved grandsons Anthony and Jackson Miller, and a much-anticipated grandson due in January 2027; his brothers Richard (Janet) Spencer and Andrew (Leslie) Spencer; along with several nephews and a niece. He is predeceased by his parents.

Mark deeply loved his family and close friends. He had a lifelong passion for building and creating art, which began during his years as a metal fabricator for Spencer Iron. Throughout his life he was called to serve both his family and community and his impact was clearly felt by many. He supported disaster relief efforts in the Gulf Coast, worked in social services to assist children and young adults in need, and helped many of his friends and family members build and rebuild their homes.

He found joy in helping others, as an active Rotarian for many years he cherished time as a camp counselor at Camp ONSEYAWA, and loved acting in the classic Dundee Rotary Shows. Mark's role as Santa Claus for the past 15 years filled many families with fond memories, clever jokes, and laughter.

Although his travels took him to many places throughout the world, the Finger Lakes always held a special place in his heart. Mark’s devotion to his children and grandchildren was evident in everything he did, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of Mark’s life will be held in the Spring of 2027.

The Baird Funeral Home in Dundee is assisting the family. Online condolences can be sent by visiting www.bairdfuneralhomedundee.com.
