Lyman J. Thomas Dundee: Lyman J. Thomas, age 90, of Dundee, NY passed away on Monday May 9, 2016 at The Homestead, in Penn Yan, N.Y. Friends are invited to pay their respects from 11:00 am - 12:00 noon Saturday (May 14) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee; where his funeral service will be held at the conclusion of visitation at 12:00 noon with Pastor Semans officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Dundee. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dundee Fire Company Emergency Squad, or Dundee Fire Company 12 Union St., Dundee, NY 14837. Lyman was born June 23, 1925 in the Town of Lisle, NY, one of 5 sons of the late Walter F. & Mildred Jackson Thomas. On February 14, 1948 in Lisle, NY he married the former Norma M. Doolittle who passed away on Nov. 29, 2006. He has lived locally since 1960, previously of Richford, NY. Mr. Thomas was a self-employed dairy and grape farmer, having owned the Thomas Farm in Dundee, retiring in the mid 1980's. Mr. Thomas was a member of the former Starkey United Methodist Church, had attended the Faith Baptist Church, and the Calvary Chapel of Penn Yan. He was a former member of the Dundee Flying Club, and had served on the Dundee School Board. Lyman was a true outdoorsman, he enjoyed golf, woodworking, and fishing; but he truly loved to hunt, having been on safari to Africa two times, and on numerous hunts out west. He is survived and will be dearly missed by a son Frank E. (Penny) Thomas of Martinsville, VA; 4 daughters Marie N. (Jim) Ritter of Zephyrhills, FL, Carol A. (Larry) Hall, Catherine A. (Jim) Foster, and Susan M. Sebring all of Penn Yan, NY; a daughter in law Marge Thomas of Zephyrhills, FL; a brother Edward Thomas of Spencer, NY; 13 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and his wife he was predeceased by a son John J. Thomas in 2007; and 3 brothers Merle Thomas of Marathon, NY, Clayton Thomas of Berkshire, NY, and Harl Thomas of Alabama.
