Louise Esther Chaffee Dundee: Louise Esther Chaffee, age 81, of Dundee, NY died Sunday September 4, 2011 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center, in Elmira, NY. Friends may call from 2-3 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 8) at the BAIRD FUNERAL HOME, 36 Water Street, Dundee, where a funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Lucinda O'Leary officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Louise was born January 11, 1930 in Tyrone, NY, the daughter of the late Orlando and Mary Elizabeth Knapp Davis. A life long area resident, having previously lived in Elmira; where she was employed for many years by Elmira College. She was also a former Cafeteria Worker at Dundee Central School. Mrs. Chaffee was a former member of Dundee VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by 2 sons Charles G. Chaffee of Elmira, Allen H. Chaffee of Rock Hill, SC; a daughter Nikki L. Hacker with whom she made her home, 15 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; a brother Sonny (Joan) Davis of Savona, NY; a sister Marian Scott of Beaver Dams; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband Howard G. Chaffee Sr. on Dec. 4, 1974; a daughter Linda Marie Robbins in 1986; a son Howard G. Chaffee Jr. in 1995; a son James E. Chaffee in 2007; a granddaughter, 4 brothers, 2 sisters; and her best friend and companion of many years Robert J. Trenchard.
