Lewis A. Briggs Dundee: Lewis A. Briggs, age 85, of Dundee, NY died Tuesday May 26, 2015 in the comfort of his home. Friends are invited to calling hours from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Friday (May 29) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee; where a funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm with Rev. Gary Edmister officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Dundee. Memorial contributions may be made to Ontario-Yates County Hospice Assoc., 756 Pre-Emption Rd., Geneva, NY 14456. Lewis was born April 24, 1930 in Whitesville, New York, the son of the late Howard S. and Reita Wallace Briggs. He graduated from Dundee Central School in 1948. On December 9, 1948 in Benton, NY he married the former Elsie E. Mortensen, who passed away on February 4, 2014. A former dairy farmer, and owner of Stocking Real Estate in Dundee; he retired from driving school bus for many years at Dundee Central School in 1983. Mr. Briggs was a former member of the Barrington Grange, and Penn Yan Moose Lodge. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his children Phyllis (Bruce) Thompson, Ronnie (Cindy) Briggs, Laurie (John) Sworts, Dawn Bacher all of Dundee, Lois Kay (JR Walker) Hotailing of Lakeland, FL, and Stacy (John) Wormuth of Penn Yan; 15 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 4 brothers Arling Briggs, Stanley (Lila) Briggs, Robert (Nancy) Briggs, David (Kay) Briggs; a sister Erma Mullins; and several nieces and nephews Besides his wife and parents, he was pre-deceased by a son Thomas H.
