Leslie G. ''Les'' Howell Dundee: Leslie G. ''Les'' Howell, age 74, of Dundee, NY died Thursday March 1, 2012 at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, in Penn Yan, NY. An Open House Celebration of His and Liz's Life will be held from 2:30 to 4:30 pm Saturday June 26th in the Dundee V.F.W. Pavilion 125 Seneca St. Ext. Dundee, N.Y. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Dundee Fire Company, or the Dundee Fire Company Emergency Squad, 12 Union St., Dundee, NY 14837. "Les" was born Feb. 15, 1938 in Dundee, NY, the son of the late Fred M. and Dorothy Barkley Howell. He graduated from Dundee Central School in 1956. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1959. On Oct. 8, 1960 in the Dundee Baptist Church he married the former Elizabeth A. Woodard. A former Supervisor for the Phone Company, he retired after 30 years from Contel, of Dundee, in 1990. He was a Life Member of the Dundee Fire Company, and the Dundee Fireman's Benevolent Assoc.; and a member of the Dundee V.F.W. Goodrich-Smith Post #8649. He was the bass guitar player in "The Howell Boys" Band and loved music, playing softball, bowling, and dancing. He is loved and will be dearly missed by his wife of 51 years "Liz" A. Howell at home; 4 daughters Cara A. (Wayne) Merrill of Lyons, NY, Colleen S. (Ed Dobrowski) Howell of Rochester, Cathy M. (Marlin) Houghtaling of Mills, PA, Cris L. (Ken) Hight of Penn Yan; 4 grandchildren Derek G. and Dustin R. Houghtaling, and Taylor E. and Kaleigh R. Hight; 2 brothers Kenneth Howell and Stewart (Barb) Howell both of Dundee; 5 sisters Norma Jean Sechrist of Rochester, Irene (Bill) Brown of Dundee, Shirley (Harry) Goltry of Beaver Dams, Sharon (Carl) Morgan of Dundee, and Diana (Don) Long of Bath; countless nieces, nephews, and in laws.
