Leona Marion Berryman Lakemont: Leona Marion Berryman, age 98, formerly of Lakemont, passed away peacefully Saturday March 22, 2025 at The Homestead, in Penn Yan, N.Y. There will be no calling hours; a graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Lakemont Cemetery, Hayes Rd. Lakemont, NY. Leona was born July 30, 1926 in Middlesex, NY, the daughter of the late Harvey Tyler and Ada (Walter) Reynolds. On Sept. 27, 1947 in Lakemont, NY she married the late Wilbur E. Berryman, who preceded her in death on March 11, 2003. A lifelong area resident, Leona was a seamstress for the former Michael Stearns Clothing, in Penn Yan, NY until the closing of the plant. And avid bowler during her life, she had been a former member of several Senior Citizen Bowling leagues in Dundee, Watkins Glen, and Penn Yan. She also enjoyed crocheting. She is loved and will be dearly missed by her son William E. 'Bill' (Karen) Berryman of Canandaigua; her daughter Janet E. Dove of Elmira Heights; 3 grandsons Wesley E. Berryman of Rocksboro, NC, Jamie P. (Kristian) Berryman of Hendersonville, N.C., and Jeremy J. (Erika) Berryman of Spartenburg, SC; a granddaughter Kimberleigh Sue (James) Grimes of Elmira; 8 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, and her husband, she was predeceased by 3 brothers and 2 sisters. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at the Homestead who made her feel so welcome, and helped her enjoy her time living there.
