In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Dundee Food Pantry, 20 Seneca St.; or Dundee United Methodist Church, 35 Water Street P.O. Box 63, or the Dundee Fire Company Ladies Aux., 12 Union St., Dundee, NY 14837.
Kenneth was born December 9, 1945 in Hornell, NY, the only child of the late Kenneth M. and Grace Northway Templeton Stanton Sr. He graduated from Canisteo High School in 1963, and went on to receive his Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts from Alfred University in 1967. He started his working career as a teacher, soon learning that was not going to be enjoyable. He accepted a position with the NYS Dept. of Labor, as an Eligibility Specialist in the Corning office, where he retired from after 33 years in 2003. He has lived in Dundee for 25 years, previously of Corning.
On Dec. 5, 1998 in the Dundee United Methodist Church he married the former Charlene M. (Hill) Snyder. He immediately joined the Dundee United Methodist Church and became very active as a Trustee, Usher, and Church Custodian, and was eager to help in all capacities or needs. Ken was also very community minded, becoming the Head of the Dundee Food Pantry, doing all the ordering and distribution, and never stopped worrying about his obligations right up to the day he died. He helped in all aspects of Meals on Wheels; and was a drafted member of the Dundee Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, providing the muscle for all of their respective projects. He will be missed by all.
In his spare time, Family was #1; but playtime was spent either at his camp on Lake Rushford, and on the water boating, or forcing everyone to learn to water ski, of which he was semi pro. He loved his dogs, all animals actually, riding his ATV, and woodworking, when water sports were not possible.
He is loved and will be forever missed by his wife of 23 years "Char" Stanton at home; his son Michael C. (Mary Beth Wilder) Stanton Sr. of Corning, NY, his two daughters Michelle L. Stanton of Gastonia, NC, Mindy A. Stanton of Charlotte, NC, Char's son who he loved as his own Brian J. (Rick Smith) Snyder of Horseheads, NY; 8 grandchildren Michael Jr., Mathew, Tessa, Brianna, DeVante, Kyla, Brandon, & Alyssa; 13 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and inlaws.
Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by 2 grandsons, Jordan Clark in 2001, & Benjamin Snyder in 2020.
