Kathy A. Areford Dundee: Kathy A. Areford, age 60, of Dundee, NY died Sunday February 17, 2013 in the comfort of her home. The family will receive friends and celebrate her life from 1-4 pm Saturday (Mar. 2) at the family home, 18 Edwina St., Dundee, NY. Those wishing may make memorial contributions to the Dundee Library, 32 Water St. Dundee; or the Dundee Fire Company Emergency Squad; 12 Union St. Dundee, NY 14837. Kathy was born October 27, 1952 in Penn Yan, N.Y., the daughter of the late Jack C. and Gloria Hess Grenham. Raised in Dundee until she was fourteen, she graduated from Jordan-Elbridge High School in 1970, and from Scranton Business School in Syracuse. On Sept. 18, 1971 in the Dundee Methodist Church, she married Gregory A. Areford, and has resided in Dundee ever since. Kathy had a varied work history throughout her life, having been employed by Shepard-Niles, the Glen Motor Inn, and Agway Energy Products. She retired from the Admissions Department of Keuka College, in June of 2009. She was a member of the Dundee United Methodist Church, and was a former Girl Scout Leader. An avid Santa Claus collector, she was happiest when gardening, reading, traveling, or just spending time with family and friends. She is loved and will be dearly missed by he husband of 41 years, Greg A. Areford at home; a daughter Shelby (Thomas DeMitry) Areford-Murphy of Potter, NY; a son Colby (Monica) Areford of Rosedale, MD; 3 grandchildren Hunter A. Murphy, Gregory T. Areford, and Cody A. Areford; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and 1 niece. Arrangements were entrusted to the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee.
