Karen C. Maynard Penn Yan/Dundee: Karen C. Maynard, age 62, of Penn Yan, previously of Dundee, NY ended her fight Saturday August 15, 2015 after a courageous battle with Cancer, surrounded by her loving family. Honoring her wishes there are no prior calling hours. A Celebration of her Life will be held at 5:00 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 20) at the Dresden United Methodist Church, 60 Cornelia St., Dresden with her sister Kim Fultz, and Rev. Marilyn Wood officiating; and followed by a dinner reception for everyone at the Dresden Fire Department. Private inurnment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Dundee, NY at the convenience of the family. Karen was born May 27, 1953 in Penn Yan, NY, the daughter of the late Francis Johnson and Marion Dixon Johnson. She graduated from Dundee Central School in 1972. Karen was a very active member of the community, volunteering for countless fund raisers and benefits. She was a former member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, volunteered for the Troop Rides, was a past member of the Yates County Pool League, and will be remembered for her joy of cooking, camping, casino's and fishing. A loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, she will be missed by her 4 children, Denita L. Bayer, Rebecca A. (Dave) Andersen, Judy Danson all of Penn Yan, and Arthur (Roxanne) Temple of Honeoye, NY; her companion & dear friend and caregiver Tom E. Boorom, her mother Marion A. Harris both of Penn Yan, 10 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; a brother Cecil "Skip" (Sharon McMillen) Johnson of Penn Yan, 3 sisters Diane L. (David) Nelson of Dresden, Wendy L.(Todd) McCutchen of Drummonds, TN, Kim M. (Kevin) Fultz of Dundee; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her father Francis Johnson in 1977; and her beloved step father Marshall L. "Bing" Harris in 2008.
