John Adam Medvitz Sr.
Dundee/Tyrone: John Adam Medvitz Sr., age 84, of Dundee, NY passed away peacefully Wednesday September 10, 2025 in the comfort of his home, with his wife of 60 years sleeping alongside.
The family will receive friends at calling hours from 2:00 – 4:00 pm Sunday (Sept. 14) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee; where his funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Monday (Sept. 15) with Fr. Daniel Mahler officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Dundee.

John was born April 4, 1941 in Hazleton, PA, the son of the late George and Anna (Gondira) Medvitz. After graduating from High School, he immediately joined the U.S. Army serving 3 years active duty, and 3 years in the reserves, being Honorably Discharged June 25, 1965. Just 5 days earlier, on June 19, 1965 in Paramus, N.J. he married the former Florence Marie Lacz.
John and Florence remained in NJ where John worked as a welder and fabricator at Richards Industries in West Caldwell, NJ. He retired in 2011. After retirement and since 2012 they have made their home in Dundee, NY. John enjoyed gardening, fishing, and collecting baseball cards. He was a very active member of Holy Cross Eastern Orthodox Church in Hackettstown, NJ, where he served as Counsel President for over 20 years. Since 2012 he has been a member of St. Mary's Orthodox Church in Painted Post, NY.
John is survived by his wife of 60 years, Florence M. Medvitz at home, a daughter Dorene A. (David) Blauvelt of Vernon, NJ and two sons, John A. (Tina) Medvitz of Dundee, and Mark D, (Lisa) Medvitz of Wantage, NJ.; Seven grandchildren, David (Lisa) Blauvelt, Pamela (John) Tancredi, Kaitlynn (Bruce) Dillon, Adam Medvitz, Brittany (Joseph) Bailey, Bryan (Lisa) Campbell, and Jennifer (Matthew) Togno; and 11 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Joe Medvitz, and two sisters, Rita (Milt) Davis and Joan (Clyde) Morrison all of White Haven PA; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
