Rock Stream: JoAnna C. Kennerson, age 73, of Rock Stream, NY passed away Thursday May 9, 2019 at Rochester General Hospital, Rochester, N.Y. after a courageous lengthy battle with Leukemia.
Friends are invited to a calling hour from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Saturday May 25 at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee; where her memorial service will be held at 11:00 am with Lay Pastor Lew Ann Giles officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Central NY Chapter, Learbury Centre 401 N. Salina St, Syracuse, NY 13203-1770.
JoAnna was born December 11, 1945 in Penn Yan, NY, the daughter of the late Fred and Betty {Houghtaling} Eldred. On Feb. 21, 1976 in Penn Yan, NY she married her Marine Edgar C. Kennerson. A Military Bride she on various Military Bases across the country, working at the various Marine Corp Exchanges to help support her family. When her husband retired in 1992, they returned to the local area. She continued to work as a sales associate, starting at Ames in Penn Yan, 10 years at Sugar Creek in Dundee and finally retiring from Walmart, in Watkins Glen, NY in 2016.
A loving devoted wife, mother & grandmother; Mrs. Kennerson was long time collector of dolls and stuffed bears. She loved Disney movies, with her favorite character being Eeyore, she will be fondly remembered for the many times she pretended to talk like and quote him. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening and playing bingo.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Edgar C. Kennerson at home; 2 sons Kenneth Allen (Priscilla) Hoke of New Britain, PA, Robert Lee (Heather) Hoke of York Haven, PA; a daughter LaRonda J. Leckie of York, PA; 6 grandchildren Amelia, Jake, Kaitlyn, Shelby, Robert, & Jacob; a great grandson Brennan; a sister Barbara Galdeano of Penn Yan; and several nieces and nephews.
