Helen F. Judkins Dundee: Helen F. Judkins, age 95, of Penn Yan, formerly of Dundee, NY died Wednesday July 11, 2012 at The Homestead, in Penn Yan, N.Y. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon Saturday (July 14) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee; where a Catholic funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon; with Father Leo Reinhardt officiating. Burial with Full Military Honor's will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Penn Yan. Memorial contributions may be made to Dundee Area Youth Center, P.O. Box 136, Dundee, NY 14837. Helen was born July 27, 1916 in Passaic, NJ, the daughter of the late Anthony and Catherine Szczech Gorecki. She proudly served in the U.S. Woman's Army Corp during World War II. On Dec. 30, 1948 in Baltimore, MD she married the late Glen Judkins; who passed away on May 20, 1971. She has lived locally since 1975, previously of Houston, Texas; where she was employed as a nurse's aide by Alief Gen. Hosp., in Alief, TX. Upon moving to NY she became a seamstress for the former Michael Strearns Clothing Co. in Penn Yan, retiring in 1981. After retirement she worked as an aid at the Dundee Central School Library. Mrs. Judkins was a member of the former St. Andrews Catholic Church, the Dundee VFW, and Dundee American Legion; former member of the Penn Senior Citizens. Helen enjoyed helping people in need which is why she was a very active volunteer for the American Cancer Society, and the American Legion. She also loved to travel. She is loved and will be dearly missed by her daughter Sandra D. (Milton) King, and a grandson Thomas S. Elias and 3 great grandchildren Rhiannon Elias, Anthony Elias, and Mason Elias all of Shoemakersville, PA; numerous nieces and nephews, and countless friends. Besides her husband, she was pre-deceased by a grandson Glen S. Elias on July 24, 2008, and 4 sisters Nellie Salamendra, Mary Moskal, Anna Twardowski, and Stella Maciag.
