Helen M. Jensen Dundee: Helen M. Jensen, age 91, of Dundee, NY formerly of Himrod, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday January 23, 2016 at home. Friends are invited to calling hours from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Wednesday (Jan. 27) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee; where her funeral service with cousin Valerie Lerch officiating, will be held at 3:00 pm. Burial will be private in Lakeview Cemetery, Penn Yan, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Himrod Fire Department, 3530 Himrod Rd., Himrod, NY 14842-9608. Helen was born May 28, 1924 in the town of Jerusalem, NY, the daughter of the late Clarence and Cora Parmelee Covert. A life-long area resident, she had worked at Penn Yan Boats, Lakeland Egg Farm and Comstock Foods before Seneca Foods in Dundee, where she retired from in 1986. Mrs. Jensen was a member of the Dundee Presbyterian Church, the Himrod Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary for over 30 years; and the Dundee American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, and dancing, but her favorite time spent was providing child care for friends and family. She is loved and will be dearly missed by her 3 daughters Connie J. (Ann Heister) Race of Olean, NY, Althea J. Race of Great Bend, PA; and Kimberly A. Davenport of Dundee; 5 granddaughters; 9 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her special friends Megan, Devon, and Chrissy Dunn whom she loved like her own grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her husband Glennis J. Race; long time faithful companion David Sworts, 3 brothers Isaac, Frank, and Howard Covert; a sister Janett Corbitt; a great grandson Steven Johnson; and a son in law Russel Davenport.
