Gordon R. Fleet Montour Falls / Dundee: Gordon R. Fleet, age 94, formerly of Dundee, NY died Tuesday June 9, 2015 at Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility, in Montour Falls, NY. Honoring his wishes there are no prior calling hours. A private graveside service with Fireman, and Military Honors will be held at the convenience of the family in Hillside Cemetery, Dundee, with Rev. Jane Winters officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dundee Fire Company, or the Dundee Fire Company Emergency Squad, 12 Union St., Dundee, NY 14837. Gordon was born July 14, 1920 in the town of Barrington, NY, the son of the late Emerson B. and Bessie S. Southworth Fleet. He graduated from Dundee Central School in 1940. He worked at Ingersol-Rand for 2 years before serving in the 7th Air Force during World War II, from 1942-1946, stationed at Hickam Field, on the Island of Oahu Hawaii. On Jan. 7, 1943 in Dundee, he married the former Isabel S. Palmer; she passed away on his 78th birthday July 14, 1998. Gordon was an Accountant and Bookkeeper for 50 years employed by Palmer Chevrolet Olds, in Dundee. Mr. Fleet was a very active member of the Dundee Community, he joined the Fire Department in 1946, in 1948 he and the late Kenneth Vaughn founded the Dundee Fire Department Emergency Squad, was a Past Chief, and Life Member. He was a member and past treasurer of the Dundee United Methodist Church; a former member of the Dundee Rotary Club, the Odd Fellows, and the Seneca Lake Sportsmans Club. In his spare time, he was an avid sportsman, enjoying fishing and hunting, and loved refinishing furniture for many area friends. He will be missed by a daughter Sheila F. (David) Kiehle of Albany, NY; a son Steven G. (Pam) Fleet of Dundee, 4 grandchildren Brian S. Fleet of Penn Yan, Douglas S. (Amy) Fleet of Dundee, Kara C. Kiehle of Los Angeles, CA, Matthew D. (Jennifer) Kiehle of Cohoes, NY; 7 great grandchildren Anna Isabel Fleet, Emma Theresa Fleet, Eva Kay Fleet, Ellie Marie Fleet, Renee Olivia Fleet, Jack Benjamin Kiehle, Molly Judith Kiehle; numerous nieces, nephews; and a very dear friend Eleanor Green. Besides his wife he was pre-deceased by 2 brothers, and 1 sister. Arrangements are by the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee.
