Obituary

Freeman Goodrich "Spud" Fowler Dundee: Freeman Goodrich "Spud" Fowler, age 88 of Dundee, NY sadly passed away on his 70th wedding anniversary, Wednesday June 24, 2015 in the comfort of his home with family at his side. Honoring his wishes there will be no prior calling hours. A memorial service with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday August 1, 2015 at the Dundee Presbyterian Church, 31 Main Street, Dundee with Rev. Jane Winters officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dundee V.F.W. Goodrich-Smith Post #8649, 125 Seneca St. Ext, Dundee, NY 14837, the Dundee American Legion Bradley-Jessop Post 660, 10 Spring St., Dundee, NY 14837 or to Keuka Comfort Care Home, PO Box 107, Penn Yan, NY 14527. Freeman was born April 27, 1927 in Dundee, a son of the late Harry Judson and Mary Pearl Goodrich Fowler. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On June 24, 1945 in Benton Center he married the former Mary Louise Tears. He was a life-long local resident who worked for many years at Palmer Chevrolet in Dundee before taking the position of Transportation Supervisor for Dundee Central School in 1971 where he retired 20 years later. "Spud" as he was affectionately called by his friends was very active in the community. He was a life member of the Dundee V.F.W. and American Legion; was a former Dundee Fireman, and Odd Fellow. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, family time, and following his grandchildren's many endeavors. He is loved and will be missed by his wife, Mary Louise Fowler at home; 3 daughters Barbara J (Stewart) Howell of Dundee, Linda F Howland of Brockport, Dee A. (Ron) Anderson also of Dundee; 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by 3 brothers, 2 sisters, and a son-in-law, Jim Howland who passed away in 2011. Arrangements are by the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water St., Dundee.
