Elizabeth A. ''Liz'' Smalley Cotten Dundee: Elizabeth A. (Smalley) Cotten, 73, formally of Dundee, NY, slipped into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 11, 2015, at the Corning Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare. Peaceful was her passing. Many are those who will miss and mourn her. Unconditional love is her legacy. Liz's strength of character, steadfast faith, and ready smile were inspirations to those around her. Family and friends will be welcomed at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water St., in Dundee, NY, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon on Saturday, January 17, 2015. A committal service will follow directly afterward at the Lakeland Mennonite Church in Rock Stream, NY, with Pastor Dale Eby officiating. Per Liz's request, a worship service will be held at the Barrington Community Church in Dundee, NY, at a later date, for her family and church family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to World Vision P.O. Box 9716 Federal Way, WA 98063 (worldvision.org) in Liz's memory. Elizabeth, daughter of the late Donald and Isabelle Barrett Smalley, was born in Schuyler County on January 27, 1941. She grew up in Montour Falls, NY and attended the Odessa-Montour School District. She was a member of the Barrington Community Church, spreading joy through her musical talents on the piano. Liz was predeceased by Mitchell, her devoted husband of 31 years on February 20, 2014. She is survived by her beloved children Cori (Gary), BJ, Mike (Stacy), Patti (Tracey), Miki (Norm), Trina (Brian) and Tammy. She was the proud grandmother of 25 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren. Other survivors include her siblings Earnest (Dianna), Frank (Mary), Roger (Bonnie), Mary (James), brother-in-law Dick (Phyllis), numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends. Heartfelt thanks are extended to the Mennonite Community and the second floor staff at the Corning Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare for their friendship, continuous prayers, love, and support.
