Elizabeth Hursh Burkholder
Mrs. Elizabeth Hursh Burkholder age 88 years, 7 months, 24 days; of Fairview Community, passed away Friday June 19, 2026, 10:45 p.m. at her residence in Elkton, KY.
Elizabeth was born October 26, 1937, in East Earl Township, Lancaster County, PA the daughter of the late Willis & Anna Mary (Hursh) Stauffer. On Nov. 18, 1958 in New Holland, PA, she married Paul M. Burkholder. She was a homemaker and seamstress. She was a member of the Keuka Lake Mennonite Church in Penn Yan, NY.
She is survived by her sons Willis Burkholder and his wife Kathryn, Paul Burkholder and his wife Rachel all of Hopkinsville, KY, and Daniel Burkholder and his wife Mary Jane of Fleetwood, PA, her daughters Kathryn Martin and her husband Paul of Elkton, KY, Anna Wenger and her husband Raymond of Dundee, NY, Vera Hoover and husband Reuben of Hopkinsville, KY, Mabel Burkholder of Elkton, KY, Ruth Weaver and her husband Vernon of Kutztown, PA, her brothers Willis Stauffer and his wife Ida of Ephrata, PA, Henry Stauffer and his wife Eva of New Holland, PA, her sisters Anna Weaver of Versailles, MO, Mabel Nolt of Spencer, TN, and Hettie Finney of New Holland, PA, 45 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren. Other survivors include her caregiver Rachel Zimmerman, who was like a daughter to Elizabeth; sister in law Lizzie Stauffer of Stevens KY; and brother in law Reuben Zimmerman and wife Emma of Barnett, MO.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Paul Burkholder in 2016; an infant daughter Lena, a grandson Stanley Wenger, and 4 great grandchildren; brother Eli Stauffer and wife Martha; brother Amos Stauffer; brother in laws Edwin Nolt, Eli Weaver, and Don Finney.
There will be a visitation at her residence, 1195 Britmart Rd., Elkton, KY on Monday June 22, 2026 from 12:00 noon till 3:00 p.m. then a memorial service at the County Line Mennonite Church. Latham Funeral Home in Elkton, KY is in charge of local arrangements,
Services in New York; Visitation will be on Thursday June 25, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Keuka Lake Mennonite Church 2570 Route 14A Penn Yan, NY 14527; where funeral services will be held Friday June 26, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. with Bishop Dave Steinhauer, Ralph Burkholder and Lewis Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Corner Stone Mennonite Church Cemetery, 2006 Cayuga St. Romulus, NY 14541. Baird Funeral Home, Dundee, NY, and the Townsend, Wood & Zinger Funeral Home in Penn Yan, NY are assisting the family with the arrangements in New York.
