Elda S. Strong Penn Yan: Elda S. Strong, age 93, of Penn Yan, NY passed away Wednesday September 30, 2015 at the Penn Yan Manor Nursing Home. There are no prior calling hours. A graveside memorial service with joint interment with her husband Guy, will be held at 11:00 am Thursday (Oct. 8) in Lakeview Cemetery, Penn Yan, NY with Lay Pastor Lew Ann Giles officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Manor Crest Foundation, 411 Clinton St., Penn Yan, N.Y. 14527. Elda was born July 10, 1922 in Dundee, NY, the daughter of the late Herbert and Eliza Clark Spencer. On July 29, 1942 in Dundee, NY she married the late Guy Strong, who passed away on February 2, 2004. A life-long area resident, Elda worked for many years as a Home Health Aid employed by Yates County Home Health, of Penn Yan, until her retirement in 1993. Mrs. Strong was a member of Second Milo Baptist Church, and the Ladies of The Moose Lodge #1519. In her spare time she enjoyed camping and bird watching. A loving mother and grandmother, she will be missed by her son Van L. (Sandy) Strong; a brother Carl R. Spencer; a daughter in law Donna J. Strong all of Penn Yan, 6 grandchildren Andrea (Richard) Kingsley, Emily (Jody) Swann, Felicia (Tom Fletcher) Strong, Stacey Strong, Leslie (Jeff) Jorritsma, and Charles (Jeannie) Lafferty; 8 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband she was predeceased by a son Carroll H. Strong in 1987, and a sister Helen C. Manley in Nov. 2014.
