Obituary

Donald Shreibman March 18, 1938 – February 12, 2023 Lakemont: Donald Shreibman, age 84, born into a prominent West Elmira family, as a young man attended the University of Illinois before joining the long-standing family business established by his grandfather in 1893 Shreibman Jewelers of Elmira N.Y – which he would later own and operate for many years. Donald loved Elmira and was a devoted Rotarian and patron of the Clemens Center. He also loved his country and served in the Army reserves. He had many hobbies and enjoyed photography and could always be seen with his camera taking photos of things he loved such as cars, family, friends, and pets to name a few. He was an avid sports fan, following not just the Elmira Pioneers and Elmira hockey, but was a serious N.Y. Yankees fan and never missed the World Series – no matter who was playing. Donald was a voracious reader, filing his photographic memory with the latest news and held a very advanced, up -to -date political knowledge – which he loved to discuss with others. In his later years, Donald helped in his wife's successful antique business, O'Shaughnessy Antiques in Watkins Glen N.Y – where he was not just excellent company but a true fixture at the shop and loved by many locals with whom he shared a mutual love of sports and political happenings. He had many friends, who will miss his conversation and positive attitude. Donald was predeceased by his parents Charles "Jake" & Irene C. Levine Shreibman. He is survived by his loving wife Louise Burack O'Shaughnessy, sister-in-law Toby (Mark) Goldstein, his "adopted family" - Rena (George) Pendleton, "Grandchildren" George & Greg Pendleton, "brother" Wayne Kellogg Sr., "nephews" Wayne Jr. and Fred Kellogg; and his two beloved little dogs Bobby and Gloria. We will all miss Donald and his infectious laugher, his smile, his generosity, kindness, brilliant insight, and positive view on life. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a local no kill shelter of your choice as Donald was an animal lover and supporter of the local shelters. Honoring his wishes there are no prior calling hours or public service. Arrangements entrusted to the Baird Funeral Home 36 Water St. Dundee, NY; Online condolences can be sent by visiting www.bairdfuneralhomedundee.com.
