David Joseph Morel Sr. Penn Yan: David Joseph Morel Sr., age 93, of Penn Yan, NY died Monday May 20, 2013 at The Homestead, in Penn Yan, N.Y. Friends are invited to call from 3-5 p.m. Thursday (May 23) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee; where a Catholic funeral service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 5:00 pm. with Father Jack O'Connor officiating. Inurnment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, in Newton, NJ at the convenience of the family. David was born June 6, 1919 in Sanford, Maine, the son of the late Thomas and Lydia Cot? Morel. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII; and was highly decorated, including the Purple Heart, and Silver Star. On Dec. 18, 1941 in Newark, NJ, he married the former Madeline M. Gramcko, who passed away on February 23, 1980. A retired mechanic for J.R. Roof Auto Sales & Ser. of Newton, NJ; Mr. Morel has lived locally since 2004, formerly of Maryland. He attended St. Michael's Catholic Church; was a Life Member of the American Legion, a Life Member of the V.F.W.; and enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and hunting, and fishing, in his younger years. Family was his greatest love, and he will be dearly missed by a son David Joseph (Eileen) Morel Jr. of Gambrills, MD; two daughters Theresa Lydia Hudler of Cambodia, Melanda M. (Charles) Sipley Jr. of Dundee; 2 brothers Thomas (Mae) Morel of Belleville, NJ, John (Gwen) Morel of Lansdowne, MD; a sister Louise Millazzo of Howell, NJ; 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
