David J. Gush Corning/Elmira: David J. Gush, age 69, passed on Saturday September 7, 2024. He had been a resident of Corning Center, for nearly five years. David was born October 3, 1954 to the late Peter and Doris (Phillips) Gush in Elmira, NY. He graduated in 1972 from Elmira Free Academy. He worked various jobs in the area. Dave found his calling as a Corrections Officer beginning in 1986 until health concerns required he retire after 24 years of service. He is loved and will be dearly missed by his sister Suzanne Kendall with husband Bruce and children Aaron and wife Tracy with children Max and Isla, Nathan his Godson, and Jenny. His sons, Cory, Cameron and Dustin who he loved and supported after their moms passing. Many cousins survive Dave, including brother Stosh; and dear cousins of David's sons, Andie and Desere; and one grandson Jayden Keyser. Besides his parents, Dave was predeceased by his fiancée Diane Laurenson. There were no prior calling hours. His inurnment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery. A Celebration of His Life, will be held from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. Tuesday October 15, at the Meals on Wheels Event Facility 409 Williams St. Elmira, NY.
