Obituary

Buddy M. Love Dundee: Buddy M. Love, age 92, most recently of The Terrace in Dundee, NY died Thursday June 13, 2013 with his daughter by his side, at the Keuka Comfort Care Home, in Penn Yan, NY. Honoring his wishes there are no prior calling hours. A private graveside memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family in Lakemont Cemetery, with Rev. Ellen Donnan officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Keuka Comfort Care Home P.O. Box 107 Penn Yan, 14527; or the Dundee Fire Company Emergency Squad, 12 Union St., Dundee, 14837. Buddy was born March 14, 1921 in the Town of Yonkers, Waganer County, Oklahoma, the son of the late Richard and Iona Harp Love. He graduated from Chilocco Indian School in Chilocco, OK in 1940. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, from 1942 - 1945, as a Baker 1st Class. With his baking skills, he was the founder of the former Dundee Bakery, which he owned from 1948 - 1958. After leaving the bakery, he became involved in Juvenile Justice, at Camp Monterey before moving to California, and accepting a position with the State of California Juvenile Justice Program in Merced, CA, in 1966. In January of 1967 he married the former Margaret Boag Palmer. He retired after twenty years in 1986, and he and his wife moved to New Bern, North Carolina. His wife passed away in 2006, he moved back to Dundee two years later in 2008. He is loved and will be dearly missed by 3 daughters Dawn (Louis) Praino of Dumfries, VA, Deborah L. (Ronald) Combs of Dundee, and Catherine P. (Alan) Kiehle of Romulus, NY; 4 grandchildren Randee Cummins of Watertown, NY, Jason (Amy) Praino of Dumfries, VA, Alissa Jones of Holland, PA, and Adrianne (Mike) Deorocki of Newburyport, MA; 5 great grandchildren Caleb Cummins, Jessica Praino, Avery Jones, Cooper Jones, and Mallory Deorocki; along with 4 nephews. Besides his parents, and wife, he was pre-deceased by a brother John Love of Merced, CA. Arrangements were entrusted to the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee.
