It is with the deepest sorrow and heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Bonnie L. Miller, who passed away on August 31, 2026, at the age of 49.

Bonnie was born on August 5, 1977, in Bloomington, Indiana, to Judith Green (Melvin) and Timothy Covey Sr.

Bonnie’s life was filled with both beautiful moments and difficult seasons. She faced many personal struggles throughout her life, carrying battles that were not always seen or understood by those around her. But those struggles were only one part of her story.

They do not define the woman she was, the love she carried, or the memories she leaves behind.

Above all else, Bonnie was a mother.

She leaves behind her two children, Ayla Lane (Michaela) and Xavia Miller-Smith (Daniel), who will forever carry their mother in their hearts. Their journey with their mom was not always easy, but there were beautiful moments that will never be forgotten. When Bonnie was at her best, she was an amazing mother who loved her children deeply and treasured the time she spent with them.

Bonnie had a love for the simple things that made life beautiful. She loved soft rock music, butterflies, gardening, and spending time with her family. She could find happiness in a favorite song, flowers growing in her garden, a butterfly passing by, or simply being surrounded by the people she loved. And then, of course, there were cats. Bonnie didn’t simply like cats—she was absolutely obsessed with them. Anyone who knew her probably knew that a conversation could somehow become about a cat, whether there was one actually present or not. Her love for cats was just another little piece of what made Bonnie uniquely Bonnie, and it is a memory that will undoubtedly bring a smile to the faces of those who loved her. Her children will remember the mother behind the struggles. They will remember her laugh, her voice, her love, and the moments when life was good and she was simply Mom. They will hold onto those memories and carry them with them through every chapter of their lives.

Bonnie is survived by her husband, Joseph L. Miller; her children, Ayla Lane (Michaela) and Xavia Miller-Smith (Daniel); her stepson, Joseph Miller Jr. (Shalyn); her grandchildren, MJ Miller, Joseph Miller III, and Lincoln Smith; her father, Timothy Covey Sr.; and her siblings, Kicia Covey (Andrew), Mark Parody, Amber Parody (Don), Timothy Covey Jr., and Correna Covey.

She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Sean Hanes (Miranda), Shane Hanes (Erica), Jordan Bagliere, Brianna Bagliere (Doug), Lizabeth Owen (Chris), Charles Parody, and Charles Dailey, along with extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Judith Green (Melvin), and her siblings Nunzio Bagliere, Robert Bagliere, and Todd Parody.

There will always be things left unsaid, memories we wish we could relive, and moments we wish we could have had more of. But love does not disappear when someone dies. It remains in the memories, in the stories, in the little things that remind us of them, and in the people they leave behind.

For Bonnie, perhaps those reminders will always be found in a soft rock song playing on the radio, flowers growing in a garden, a butterfly floating by, or a cat doing something that would have immediately made her think of home.

And when her children see those things, they can remember their mom—not for the difficult days, but for the beautiful pieces of her that will always belong to them.

May she finally be free from the struggles she carried for so long. May she find the peace she deserved. And may she be surrounded by music, flowers, butterflies, cats, and the love of her family forever.

Services:

Bonnie was cremated, and her family is taking the time they need to travel, notify loved ones, and make the necessary arrangements during this difficult time. Services will be held at a later date, and we will keep everyone informed as details are finalized.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Bonnie’s children, Xavia and Ayla, would be greatly appreciated as they navigate this difficult time and help cover the expenses that come with the loss of their mother.
