Alice F. Shelford Dundee: Alice F. Shelford, age 96, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, August 17th, 2017. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service at Faith Baptist Church, 13 Harpending Ave., Dundee, NY on Sunday (Aug 20), calling hours at 2:00 pm, service, at 3:00 pm with Pastor Larry Semans officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in her memory to the Faith Baptist Church, 13 Harpending Ave., Dundee 14837. Alice was born on March 27th, 1921 to Chester A. and Jean Caldwell Foote. She grew up on a farm near Waverly, NY. After her father's death her mother married Jonathan Ritchie. Alice graduated from Waverly High School in 1938. Alice married Harry Shelford on her 21st birthday, March 27th, 1942, in Waverly, NY. They were married for 61 years until Harry's death in 2003. Alice was a loyal and capable wife and mother and contributed greatly to the lives of all in her circle. She and Harry were active most of their lives in the church they helped found in 1951, Faith Baptist Church. Alice served many offices and taught many classes. She was also a 4-H leader, taught sewing and cooking to many young people, served on the boards of Cooperative Extension and Farm Bureau…all while being a helper on their dairy farm, tying and picking grapes, keeping a garden, and raising three children. At the end she expressed that it was her role as a mother that mattered most to her and we, her children, loved her for it! Alice is survived by her three children: John E. and wife Carol of Naples, FL; Richard W. (Dick) and wife Connie of Elmira, NY; Bonnie R. Shelford of Freeville, NY. Three grandsons: J. Maxwell Shelford of Coral Springs, FL; R. Brian (Karen) Shelford of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; and Jeremy (Leann) Shelford of Naples, FL. Three granddaughters: Kristy (Brian) Belflower of Mckinney, TX; Heather S. Shelford of Washington, DC; and Becky (Micah) Riggenbach of Niles, MI. Alice also is survived by seven great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews. Alice was preceded in death by her father Chester Foote, mother Jean Caldwell Foote Ritchie, stepfather Jonathan Ritchie, brother Chester Foote; husband Harry L. Shelford; sister, Mary Ritchie Rose; brother Frederick Foote; brother Donald Foote; and sister Reba Presher.
